About Teddy
Teddy Mackenzie is a cartoonist and animator based in South Florida with a BFA in Emerging Media: Experimental Animation from the University of Central Florida. They specialize in two-dimensional animation for short-films. They firmly believe that even silly or light-hearted stories deserve to be told and that passion is reflected in their work. Driven by the art of storytelling, they strive to have their vision brought to television.
Their art is an amalgamation of many different influences, from the cutesy but dark Puella Magi: Madoka Magica to the silly but existential Adventure Time. First and foremost, their focus is always on the characters. They say: “Your story could be severely lacking, but if you write characters people can be invested in, an audience will unknowingly overlook it and still be moved.” They are particularly interested in children's stories because they're appropriate for everyone, and because of that, they can touch the child in all of us.
You can often find them drawing weird little cartoons with big butts while listening to 12 hour YouTube videos about a tv show they’ve never watched, petting the cat they’re allergic to, and talking to their plants like they’re babies.
Teddy uses they/them pronouns but is comfortable with any/all gendered language
“Gender is just another form of self-expression for me, I don’t take it too seriously”
